Job Description:
Full time Staff Attorney, specialized unit representing people applying for or contesting cessation of benefits under federal disability programs (S.
S.
I and S.
S.
D).
Duties:
Representing clients through administrative appeals at the Reconsideration, administrative hearing, and Appeals Council levels; representation of clients on appeals of adverse as for decisions, federal court; drafting prehearing memoranda; interviewing clients and completing client intakes; providing advice and counsel; keeping time records; and participation in community legal education.
REQUIREMENTS:
Admission to New York State Bar.
Applicants who have passed the Bar Examination and are pending admission will also be considered.
Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English preferred.
Applicants who have taken the exam and are waiting to hear the results may be considered.
Demonstrated commitment to the goals and clients of the legal services program.
