The Career Counselor position is a non-exempt position paying $28.
83 per hour at 35 hours per week.
The hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9:
00AM-4:
45PM and the office is located in Hempstead, NY.
The role reports to the Program Supervisor.

Primary Purpose of Job:
The Career Counselor is responsible for providing counseling, workshops, vocational/educational assistance, job readiness assistance, job skills training to clients and extensive employment assistance.
Principal Duties &
Responsibilities:
Conducting Outreach, intake (which may include worker profiling), and orientation to the information and other services available through the one-stop delivery system.
Perform vocational assessment on all clients and a work readiness assessment on clients as needed Conduct Initial assessment of skill levels (including literacy, numeracy, and English language proficiency), aptitudes, abilities (including skills gaps), and supportive service needs Provide job search and placement assistance and in appropriate cases, career counseling, Develop Career Plan which includes counseling to develop vocational and educational plans based on employment background, education, expressed interest and career exploration.
Conduct workshops for clients of the program, which may include topics such as Interview Techniques, Time Management, etc.
Appropriate recruitment and other business services on behalf of employers, including small employers, in the local area, which services may include services such as providing information and referral to specialized business services not traditionally offered through the one-stop delivery system.
Provide workforce and labor market employment statistics information, including the provision of accurate information relating to local, regional, and national labor market areas.
Refer clients to and coordinate activities with other programs and services, including programs and services within the one-stop delivery system and, in appropriate cases, other workforce development programs Develop and prepare required forms and keep statistics on client contacts, referrals, job activities, etc.
and assist the Program Director in data collection, preparing quarterly reports and fulfilling data requests.
Cultivate and maintain professional relationships and represent program at internal and external meetings and conferences.
Develop, recommend and implement policies and procedures.
Attend monthly DOOR meetings to review outcomes in regard to referrals, supportive and vocational services and job placement.
Ensure that files are organized and maintained according to funding source specifications at all times.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
Bachelors Degree in counseling or educational equivalent required, degree preferred.
Minimum of two years of relevant work experience required; experience using the One-Stop Operating System (OSOS) preferred.
Must have access to automobile and possess valid Driver's License.
Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
