UUP Farmingdale Chapter Assistant

Assistant needed for the office of the SUNY Farmingdale chapter of United University Professions (UUP), a labor union representing the faculty and professional staff of the State University of New York (SUNY).
The office is located at SUNY Farmingdale in Farmingdale, NY.
Typical hours worked will be 20 hours per week, with a schedule to be determined upon hire.
As a union organization, the position involves the strict confidential handling of member issues and concerns.
Additional requirements include attention to detail, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work well with others.
The position also requires demonstrated technical abilities in Microsoft office, social media and internet-based applications.
Works with newsletter editor to create and distribute the chapter newsletter.
Membership contact work.
Database skills are a plus.
Other administrative duties include answering phones, opening mail, preparing correspondence, responding to routine questions, and event planning for meetings and workshops.
The hourly wage for this position will be $21.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
